Panic buttons in security

A "Panic Button" is a strategically placed wireless key fob or hardwired button that is used to call the police silently and right away in an emergency.

You can put one or more panic buttons throughout your building, whether it be a church, daycare, school, or place of business, to increase security and hasten emergency response times.

How Are Panic Buttons Operated?

When a panic button is touched, an electrical signal is immediately sent to the monitoring station of the security provider, which simultaneously notifies police to let them know where the alarm is located.

Where Do Panic Buttons Go?

Most panic buttons currently in use are connected to a business's burglar alarm system.

If a store, building, or other structure already has a burglar alarm but no panic button, adding one is typically simple and affordable.

Security cameras and panic buttons

The panic button is connected to some of the more recent security systems' video surveillance monitoring systems. In these circumstances, if a panic button is pressed, it is possible to detect the threat by remotely viewing the video camera system.

Based on pre-established procedures, the security monitoring business can conduct the initial analysis for threat assessment and decide what steps to take next.

Without the holdup suspect ever being made aware of the alarm, the video monitoring business can call the police if a holdup or other life-threatening situation develops.

The video monitoring provider can simply speak through the cameras ("voice down") in low-risk scenarios to warn people that they are being watched or that they are trespassing.

In most cases, loiterers and trespassers leave of their own volition.

You can call the cops if they don't leave.

Where Can You Use Panic Buttons?

Nearly anywhere can be used with panic buttons.

Typical areas include:

Administrative desk

Tellers at banks

places of worship

school and daycare classrooms

film theaters

checkout counters in stores

stations for guards at factories and other commercial buildings
